Volunteers make it happen

EHANS has depended on the energy, enthusiasm and talents of many volunteers over the last 20 years.

This year, one of our longest serving volunteers has retired from the organization. Patricia (Tutti) Phelan has worked with EHANS for eighteen years, turning her hand to whatever needed doing. Many people remember Tutti from early days when she coordinated social events.  When UPdate needed an editor, Tutti took this on.  In recent years, Tutti has been the organizational mainstay behind the scenes, responsible for bookkeeping, membership, and a endless list of crucial organizational tasks.

Tutti has resigned to take up a life of sailing with her husband Pat, who has also supported EHANS over two decades.  We wish them well, and our heartfelt thanks for many years of service.

EHANS knew Tutti was not replaceable (at least not by less than 3 people.) We have partially made up for her absence by hiring a part-time office administrator, our first! Cari vanLingen will now be handling membership and finances, and sending out Environmental Health Information Service mailouts.

Many volunteers help achieve EHANS’ goals. EHANS volunteers raise awareness among politicians and civil servants responsible for health, education and public buildings, write, illustrate and distribute UPdate, staff information booths, help with fund-raising efforts, serve on our Board of Directors and Advisory Board and much more. We thank them all. There would be no EHANS without volunteers. We welcome new volunteers, whatever your talents.
